Our client, a Michigan-based data visualization software company, is currently looking for a professional who is passionate about software quality, who thrives in a collaborative environment, and who has the desire for continued learning.

Our client's software development teams work on bringing new technologies and innovations into our product line, as well as extending and customizing those capabilities for Global 2000 leaders, agencies of the U.S. government, and many others.

The Quality Assurance Analyst works on our Product Development Team in Lansing, Michigan.  You will be asked to design and execute test cases, plans and scripts to ensure both adherence to requirements and the ability to handle the unexpected.  Because our software development approach is agile, you will be working with other team members in a dynamic and creative environment,

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • 2+ years of quality assurance experience, implementing and shipping enterprise-class products
  • Thorough knowledge of quality assurance and agile testing practice
  • Ability to analyze software requirements making sure they are clear and testable, which in turn can be transformed into productive test plans and test scripts

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in test planning and provide input on user acceptance criteria
  • Develop and document test artifacts to include test plans, test cases, defect tracking and reports
  • Create and maintain manual and/or automated test scripts and test data; and facilitate test case reviews and other deliverables related to the software quality assurance (SQA) process
  • Perform software quality assurance, including black box testing, white box testing, smoke testing, functional testing, and maintenance regression testing to verify the correct functionality, usability, performance and reliability of systems and applications
  • Create and execute test protocols, document any deviations and provide a status report of the system state
  • Identify opportunities for automation and work cooperatively with development resources as needed to design, develop, execute, and maintain the automated test case suite
  • Identify and log defects, troubleshoot issues, and verify defect fixes including priority escalation as deemed necessary
  • Configure and maintain test environments
  • Contribute to triage sessions to help resolve defects in new and existing code; investigate customer reported issues as required
  • Review and contribute to product release notes, documentation and training materials
  • Provide input into the quality processes with the goal of continually improving the effectiveness and efficiency of testing within the software QA team, and of the quality-focused development organization. 

 

Experience:

Required: 

  • 2+ years of quality assurance experience, implementing and shipping enterprise-class products
  • Thorough knowledge of quality assurance and agile testing practice
  • Ability to analyze software requirements making sure they are clear and testable, which in turn can be transformed into productive test plans and test scripts
  • A strong understanding of what makes an excellent user experience
  • Experience testing Microsoft Windows and web-based solutions
  • Ability to balance a workload of multiple, concurrent projects
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of XML and SQL
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, and Microsoft Test Manager
  • 2+ years QA automation and/or programming and development
  • Experience with load testing tools
  • Experience with REST API’s
  • Experience using virtualization (i.e., VMWare)
